Meeting Venues

Since TTLUG does not have its own premises, meetings have to be held at public locations. Suitable locations must therefore be identified and, if necessary, the group must obtain permission to use the premises.

General Locations for Meetings

Some places that can be investigated to determine if they are feasible meeting locations are:

1. High schools/colleges

2. Technical/vocational institutes

3. Tertiary institutes

4. Restaurants

5. Businesses/commercial entities

6. Other places which a TTLUG member can arrange (e.g. place of employment)

Accommodation Requirements

The ideal venue should provide adequate accommodation for attendees (say 20 persons):

1. Parking facilities for 20 vehicles

2. Security for vehicles and premises

3. Comfortable seating for 20 persons

4. Desktop space for 20 persons, perhaps for 20 laptops

5. Wireless network connectivity/wired Ethernet connection

6. Power supply/output, at minimum for any PC/projector for presentations

7. Restroom facilities (for 20 persons!)

8. Minimal cost (read: free)

The above requirements are geared towards technical meetings (such as presentations or installfests). For administrative meetings, no network or electrical requirements are required, so meetings can be held over dinner (or over a glass!).

Possible Venues

In order to keep the location of the meetings accessible to as many members as possible, meeting should be centrally located. Some arbitrary delimitations are: St. Augustine to the North, Trincity to the East, San Fernando to the South, Port of Spain to the West.

Several possible locations for holding meetings are listed below. Premises that are yet to be contacted are listed under Unconfirmed. Once the premises have been contacted, it is moved under the Confirmed heading. If the request to use the premises has been turned down, the entry is crossed out. This will prevent duplicate effort in contacting the place (unless a member can arrange to use the premises on the group's behalf).
